When we first started our Outdoor Makerspace Pilot Project, there were very few, if any, public schools using large loose parts on the school grounds. While we knew this type of play was beneficial to our students, we needed some backup in the form of official looking documents.

When looking for supporting documents, policies, etc., we stumbled onto the first addition of Inspiring Scotland’s Loose Parts Play Toolkit. We had the pleasure of meeting Juliet Roberston, @CreativeSTAR at a conference. I will confess, I fan-girled her! She has an awesome blog Creative Star Learning: I’m a Teacher, Get Me OUTSIDE Here!. In addition, the Loose Parts Play Toolkit has recently been updated. Have a look!
